Infuriated.

i haven't been this angry in a long time.

the ignorance of the american people and of parents in general (and this is a moment in time that i HATE being a TEXAN). make that DESPISE.

yesterday i heard about this obama speech to our children in their schools next week. my assistant came into my office yesterday and was saying how he was going back and forth all day long with his daughter's middle school stating he doesn't want his daughter to watch the president's speech next week. this was the first i had heard about it. but his reasoning is "i'm not going to have my daughter be subject to that asshole. i hate that son-of-a-bitch."

REALLY?!?!? i kept my mouth shut, but i knew finding out more about this was going to throw me through the roof. on top of not feeling well this week - and feeling even worse yesterday and now today - i am all fired up about this.

so i get online and i read things like ....

"President Barack Obama's plans for a televised back-to-school address to students next week are drawing fire from some conservatives, who say he's just trying to indoctrinate them to his political beliefs."

and

"In the Sept. 8 speech, Obama will challenge students to work hard, set goals for their education and take responsibility for their learning, Education Secretary Arne Duncan said in a letter to principals."

and

" 'He will also call for a shared responsibility and commitment on the part of students, parents and educators to ensure that every child in every school receives the best education possible so they can compete in the global economy for good jobs and live rewarding and productive lives as American citizens' Duncan said in a press release."

oh AND THIS

"But already, some conservatives are crying foul. The chairman of the Florida Republican Party is condemning Obama's speech as an attempt to "indoctrinate America's children to his socialist agenda."

"The idea that school children across our nation will be forced to watch the President justify his plans for government-run health care, banks, and automobile companies, increasing taxes on those who create jobs, and racking up more debt than any other President, is not only infuriating, but goes against beliefs of the majority of Americans, while bypassing American parents through an invasive abuse of power," Chairman Jim Greer said in a press release.
Added conservative talk show host Tammy Bruce, in a Twitter feed: "Make September 8 Parentally Approved Skip Day. You are your child's moral tutor, not that shady lawyer from Chicago." And conservative author Michelle Malkin said the lesson plans have a "heavy activist bent."
"

ADDITIONALLY

"In his letter to principals, Duncan said viewing of the speech is encouraged, not mandatory. It's the first time a president has ever given a speech addressed directly to students."

i literally feel sick to my stomach. i am so enraged i am shaking...in fact, i really can't talk about this anymore. so i will just leave you with a little exchange between crack monkey and i this morning.

crack monkey: did you give administration hell?
butterfly: yes - on hold for 30 minutes
butterfly: finally got through.
asked what the reasoning behind them not showing the
presidential address was "too many parents complained"
butterfly: me - "what were they compliaining about exactly"
butterfly: admin : "we just had too many phone calls from parents
and decided we will not be showing it. it will be video taped and
available in video though"
butterfly: REALLY?!?!?!??!?!?!??!!
butterfly: so i have a phone call into ladybug's principal right now
crack monkey: you know...this could have been the coolest thing in
these kids' lives.
butterfly: i am so tired of ignorance
butterfly: truly
crack monkey: the thing they look back on that motivated them to stay
in school, go to college and get a good job
butterfly: so what i might just do it pull ladybug out of school while its on,
get her to a computer for her to watch and take her back to school
butterfly: and if they count her absent during that time, so be it
butterfly: i will cause hell on top of that if they do
crack monkey: i still remember getting to talk via video to the people while
they were discovering the titanic wreck
crack monkey: it was awesome
crack monkey: this would have trumped that
crack monkey: i hate people
butterfly: lol
butterfly: me too
crack monkey: ignorant, knee jerk reactionists that don't know progess even when
it's biting them in the butt
crack monkey: "intellectualism" has become "elitist"
butterfly: amen sister
crack monkey: stupid, stupid people

Results Schmesults

i wasn't surprised with the mccain sweep. sickened, but not surprised.

i was however surprised by hillary's comeback. it's going to continue to be a close fight, which i think is unfortunate because this battle will go on for too long (not to mention it's going to get ugly from this point on as it was fairly civil up until this point) while mcdouchebag is off on the sidelines gearing up for the general election and the dems are still over here bickering at each other. it's going to boil down to the dem nom being either barack or hillary and vice versa for vp on the same ticket.

a proverbial rip - ron paul : i do hope you gear up again in 4 more years...i believe in you and i know you gained more momentum from supporters than you ever thought possible.

i know i said in my previous post about these elections that i wasn't going to fully support another candidate until the noms were chosen.....BUT i also didn't predict this hillary thing, so fuck it.

go obama.

Hey Texas, I VOTED, did you?

today was a very hard decision for me.

i've been having an internal struggle for a while now about what i was going to do with my vote in these primaries.
did i vote for the candidate that i support 99% and i believe in, but realistically will not get his party's nomination? or do i vote for my 2nd choice in a completely different party (the party that in all honesty i affiliate more of my beliefs anyway) that is neck and neck with the other opponent?

i mulled this over in my brain until the point of it hurting a few times. i didn't know what i was going to do until this morning. i made the decision to vote for barack obama. and i can only hope that ron paul will run again in 4 years as he has already stated that he is NOT going to run independently. i felt a little sad when i walked out of the voting place. but i know in my heart that i made the right decision under the circumstances. since ron will not win the party's nomination, i knew i needed to give my vote to barack because i sure as hell don't want hillary to win the dem nomination....and since they are so close, i know my vote will count more this way.

so, i feel that i need to take my ron paul signs down as i can not honestly say that i voted for him today (although i wish circumstances were different and i could have). i will not show my true support for another candidate until the primaries are over and the dem and repub candidates have been decided.

Da Primaries

welp, so the big day is tomorrow for us and ohio. PLEASE go vote. it's very important. we've got to make a change you guys. if you've never voted before in your life or felt that your vote didn't count, now's the time to rethink that decision because your vote DOES count.

don't really have much else to say other than i have a gripe that i must vent about.

WHY don't people read? so i have a myspace account and after getting irritating friend requests from random people, i finally put up a very legible "please don't add me as a friend just to add me" and i STILL get atleast one a day. ugh. it's just irritating. i'm going to start being a bitch and replying to their requests stating, "go back and read my profile again you illiterate, no paying attention ass."

*edit : i had a 2nd gripe that i posted here this morning but i have since deleted because it was directed at one particular individual and i don't want my good bloggin buddies to feel like i was speaking to them.....so if you read earlier, it has nothing to do with ya'll :) *

that is all.

so i will leave you with this fitting song as our weather went from sunny, upper 70's this weekend to nasty, cold, raining and 40 degrees today. gotta love tejas.

Ron Paul

i don't usually speak much politics on my blog.....it got me into some trouble once even though this is MY blog to vent as i please....anyway....beside the point....i'm going to say a little something about who i will be voting for in 2008. Dr. Ron Paul.

most people that know me know that i can not stand (being nice here) the current *person* who is in office at the moment and all of his loyal followers that work alongside him.

i never got into politics too much....until roughly about 6 years ago when shit started hitting the preverbial fan. i started doing my research and started to really get concerned as to what the hell was going on in the government world.

i voted for the first time for anything in the presidential election of 2000. i voted for ralph nader - not because i thought he would win...but because i wanted to try and help in the vote to increase the percentage in order for the green party to start receiving federal funding. meh. that didn't happen by several percent.

i voted again in 2004. knowing and thinking that all the other candidates were worth a piece of shit, but just voting for the "other guy" to try and get fuck-face out of office. of course that didn't work.

i'm not familiar with prior presidencies really that occurred in my life time with the exception of clinton and bush sr. and with both of them, i didn't pay much attention, so i have no opinion on either of them to be honest. because i didn't care. which is a VERY bad attitude to take being in this country. and not caring and going along with the sheeple, that's just what we get. for not having a voice of our own.

i'm jumping in this time around. for once, now that i actually care....am doing my research and worry about the future of this country for myself, my daughter and for my unborn grandchildren (who may or may not come about), but IN THEORY...you get the idea.

i am by no means going to be making this a political blog. that's not what this is about for me....BUT when i have something to say...i'm going to say it goddamn it. and i'm not going to be afraid to say what i feel or who i'm going to vote for and why. because i now have my reasons from doing my own work and finding out what i can about these subjects at hand.

all politicians are crooks and liars...we all know that. but for once, i finally think there is someone who is actually worthy of running for the presidency and who i think would benefit our country more than any other candidate could.

and i can honestly say that i am actually surprising myself because i have completely pulled a fast one and will be voting for someone in a party that i NEVER felt i believed in. but he's different. in my eyes, he shouldn't belong to any "party". we have become so divided as a nation in the war of the parties anyway. so i won't look at it that way.

i'm voting for him as the best individual i think that will be up for the task at hand. not because he could be a republican...or a democrat or an independent, etc....but because i believe in what he stands for.

let me also preface this by saying that i don't believe in EVERYTHING that he believes in. some things i feel i am more liberal on....but in general, i think he has the right ideas and the right state of mind to go into a presidency for the american people.

these are the things about ron paul that drew me in and made me think : wow, this guy's onto something:

1. he voted AGAINST the war from day one and is STILL against it now and is ready to bring the troops home.

"It's time American soldiers quit being killed and it's time for us to quit killing a lot of other people who have not attacked us" - Ron Paul

2. he believes in going back to the way of restoring The Constitution. what this country was founded upon. we have swayed too far away.

"The moral and constitutional obligations of our representatives in Washington are to protect our liberty, not coddle the world, precipitating no-win wars, while bringing bankruptcy and economic turmoil to our people." - Ron Paul

3. he has NEVER voted to increase our taxes & wants to abolish the IRS.

4. he has been and will be fighting for OUR FREEDOM.

"I don't want us to worry about the borders between North and South Korea and between Iraq and Syria, I want to worry about our own border." - Ron Paul

5. he doesn't believe we should police the world - less government = more freedom.

6. he believes in a more conservative nationwide government, but a more liberal statewide government.

7. he voted AGAINST the patriot act.

8. he is working hard to protect our civil liberties.

SAY NO TO WAR, AMNESTY AND TAXES. SAY YES TO LIMITED GOVERNMENT, SECURE BORDERS AND LIBERTY.

i do not say these things to sway anyone's beliefs or their votes. why i posted this is so you can all see with your own eyes that if i can do the research, so can you. i do ask that everyone i know PLEASE make an informed decision this time around. our country is in serious termoil and needs a complete revamping. and whomever you vote for, believe they can do the job and make an educated choice. don't be one of the sheep.
